La Dolfina scored their 34th consecutive win in high-goal competition in Argentina Saturday afternoon with a 13-10 win over a feisty La Aguada foursome. The win secured La Dolfina a final appearance against the winner of Sunday’s game between Ellerstina and La Aguada/ Las Monjitas.
La Dolfina’s 16-14 win over Alegria wasn’t the resounding victory fans had anticipated with Ulloa shining for the Alegria offense. It was Alegria with the early lead as they outscored the defending champion 3-1 in the opening chukker.
La Aguada took immediate control of the earlier game of the day as they ran up a 7-1 lead after the first three chukkers. Magual finally got on the scoreboard again in the fourth after being shutout in the second and third chukkers.
In the 1st game at Palermo Open-HSBC, La Aguada-Las Monjitas struggled with Washington before riding on to record the 11-8 win.
Ellerstina flexed their offensive muscles Sunday afternoon as they hammered Chapaleufú 20-5 in second round play of the Argentine Open Championship at Palermo in Buenos Aires.
In an unimpressive Argentine Open debut, Ellerstina recovered by a 7-6 halftime deficit to beat Washington 14-10 in the second day of tournament play.
The two teams traded goals in the opening two chukkers as they vanished the first chukker in a 1-1 tie and kept the score even at 3-3 after two periods of play.
The thundering 18-7 win by La Dolfina over Magual in the opening round of play in the 2015 Argentine Open Championship at Palermo may have been a costly one. Although La Dolfina dominated from the early chukkers and coasted to an 18-7 win, 10-goaler Pelon Stirling suffered a blow to the hand in the final minute of the seventh chukker and was forced to leave the game, being replaced by Brazilian 8-goaler, Rodrigo Andrade.
La Dolfina trailed for most of the game Saturday afternoon in the final of the Hurlingham Open with Ellerstina taking a lead in the second chukker that they would hold up until the final minutes of regulation play, losing to the defending champion on a goal from Adolfo Cambiaso.
